The house was situated in Evergreen, Colorado. This was a fun but challenging project in that the lot was very steep and rocky to the point that it was tough to walk on. The project was an exercise in how to fit the house into the landscape and not try to conquer the landscape. The road was small and it was not easy for large equipment to access the site. We didn’t want to be drilling and blasting a lot of the rock to fit into the landscape, so how the house would sit on the landscape and take advantage of the tremendous views became the driving force behind the design.
